Karyn - Turramurra Vet Customer Care

Karyn

Hospital Manager

Karyn joined the Turramurra Veterinary Hospital team in 2022 as our Client Services Manager, ensuring our clients are well looked after, as well as managing our Customer Care Team. In 2024, Karyn moved to the role of Hospital Manager.

Karyn has a Bachelor of Animal Science from the University of Western Sydney and has worked in the Animal Care industry for over 10 years, including roles as an animal attendant, emergency vet triage receptionist, clinical nursing and management of a well-known boarding kennel.

Karyn has the ability to build trust and communicate effectively, as well as having an understanding and respect for both our clients and animal patients, and is well-suited to her management position.

Karyn grew up surrounded by all sorts of animals, such as dogs, birds, fish and guinea pigs, and as a child, read every animal-centric novel she could get her hands on. It was natural for her to have and care for a diverse range of species, as her own mother had a personal interest in horses, and showing Labrador Retrievers, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and later, Australian Shepherds. This upbringing inspires Karyn to this day, as she now has her own furry family of Koolies, called Banjo, Gypsy and Digger, and all dogs compete in Obedience and Agility trials.

It would be amiss not to mention Karyn’s volunteering history. She spent two years volunteering at the Australian Reptile Park, caring for mammals, reptiles and birds to strengthen her knowledge. She has also spent two months in South Africa, volunteering at a wildlife reserve and rehabilitation centre, monitoring tagged animals and tracking populations of elephants, rhinos, lions and leopards. While over there, she also spent time taking care of injured wildlife.

Karyn’s favourite aspect of her position is the family friendly atmosphere, and the fact that our veterinary team are all extremely knowledgeable.

Karyn is currently undertaking a Certificate III in Animal Care Services and keeping her clinical nursing skills up-to-date. Karyn also has an interest in animal behaviour, puppy classes and training and is looking forward to spending some additional time with our Pet Behaviour Consultant to broaden her knowledge.

Outside of work Karyn spends time training her trio of talented Koolies, which is as much a treat for her as it is for them! The training creates a mutual love, respect and connection between herself and her dogs, who she values more than anything. Her other hobbies include bushwalking, snowboarding, horse-riding, as well as reading, with her favourite authors being Nora Roberts and John Marsden.

Rebecca - Turramurra Vet Nurse

Beck

Remote Business Support

Beck has been a member of our nursing team since 2012, and in 2020 was appointed our Clinical Nursing Manager. She and her husband recently welcomed their first baby, a gorgeous little boy. Beck is currently working remotely part time.

Beck is our most experienced nurse, and has completed her Certificate II in Animal Studies, Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and the Advanced Veterinary Nursing course in 2018 (AIRC), as well as her Recover CPR training. She has worked as a specialist vet nurse in medicine, surgical and emergency roles for over 6 years and brings with her a high level of expertise from her experience.

Beck represents the nuts and bolts of our hospital, ensuring that the team work well together and the procedures and surgeries run smoothly. She reacts swiftly and professionally during emergencies, ensuring that every animal is treated with care and respect.

Her love for animals is clear to anyone she meets and her care and empathy extend to our clients and each and every staff member. Beck can be relied upon to assist with even the most difficult cases and offers a helping hand to everyone around her. Described by her peers as friendly, supportive and kind-hearted, Beck also enjoys mentoring our junior nursing team along their journey. She has a particular interest in surgical nursing, geriatric patient care and teaching.

A highlight of her career was volunteering with Dr Pip Wines in the Northern Territory treating animals in remote indigenous communities in 2018.

Beck is currently studying a Bachelor of Counselling and Behavioural Science degree part-time through the Australian College of Applied Psychology.

Animals have always been a big part of Beck’s life growing up and now her ginger cat, Sullivan, is her companion, along with her partner, Matthew. In her spare time, Beck enjoys Cross-Fit training, bushwalking and painting, as well as reading.

In 2022, Beck moved to country NSW with her partner’s work placement and will continue in a remote business support role.
