Dr Catherine Fletcher BVMS (U Edinburgh)
Veterinarian
Dr Catherine Fletcher joins our team this summer, bringing a welfare-oriented approach to veterinary care. Born in Cairns and raised across South East Asia, she spent ten formative years in Brunei helping her mother run an animal shelter—an experience that sparked both her love for animals and her interest in veterinary medicine. After completing her senior schooling in the United Kingdom, Catherine went on to study veterinary medicine at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh, graduating in 2020. Having dual British and Australian nationality, she worked for several years in Newcastle and London before returning to Australia, and has spent the past year working in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Dr Catherine has cultivated particular interests in dermatology, nutrition, feline medicine and preventative care, while thoroughly enjoying all aspects of general practice. Primarily a consulting vet, Dr Catherine’s clinical passions were strongly shaped by mentors including Dermatology specialist Dr Tim Nuttall and European/Australian Feline specialist Dr Danielle Gunne-Moore, with whom she trained with during her time in Edinburgh. She is deeply committed to animal welfare and shelter medicine, having led the All4Paws student charity for three years and volunteered regularly with Street Vet in the UK. Catherine describes herself as outgoing, compassionate and considerate, and she brings that same thoughtful energy to every patient and client relationship.
Now residing locally in North Wahroonga, Catherine is enjoying reconnecting with Australian wildlife and the beauty of the local bushland. In her free time, she can often be found hiking or cycling around Bobbin Head, scuba diving, playing golf, or unwinding at a yoga class. She also loves a pub quiz challenge and film festivals.
Although her beloved senior cat, Ringo, now lives a peaceful retirement in Scotland alongside her family’s three ex-battery hens, she hopes to welcome a new staffie in the coming years, pending negotiations with her fiancé, who favours much larger dogs!
Catherine is thrilled to join the Turramurra Veterinary Hospital team for the summer months and looks forward to contributing her clinical skills, commitment to preventative medicine, and enthusiasm for high-quality patient care to the wonderful community we serve.
