Dr Jessica Li BVSc
Veterinarian
Dr Jessica Li graduated from the University of Sydney in and brings over 20 years of experience in veterinary science. She grew up on Sydney’s North Shore where she attended Pymble Ladies’ College, so she is especially pleased to now be working back in our local community.
Her passion for animals began early in life, shaped by growing up with pets and a strong interest in science and problem-solving. These foundations continue to guide her commitment to compassionate, ethical, and high-quality veterinary care.
She began her career in a mixed country practice on the South Coast, where she treated small animals, livestock, racehorses and even zoo animals at Mogo Zoo! This diverse caseload built strong clinical confidence, adaptability, and practical surgical skills early in her professional journey.
Dr Jessica also spent time in Leh, India, working with Vets Beyond Borders. Practising in a resource-limited environment was both professionally and personally transformative. She gained invaluable medical, surgical, and life experience while deepening her commitment to animal welfare and community-based veterinary care.
In addition to her daytime role at Turramurra Veterinary Hospital, Dr Jessica is the Veterinary Officer for the Cat Fancier’s Association and works at Northside Emergency Vet Service (NEVS), which provides after-hours emergency care. This ongoing emergency work allows her to maintain strong acute diagnostic and critical decision-making skills.
Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, dermatology and the management of tick toxicity, just to name a few. She has undertaken further training in ultrasound, endoscopy and surgery. She values thoughtful decision-making and clear communication, ensuring clients feel supported and well-informed when making important choices about their pets. Colleagues describe Dr Jessica as compassionate, pragmatic, and calm under pressure. She enjoys working in a collaborative team culture grounded in mutual respect and high professional standards. In addition to her clinical expertise, she speaks fluent Cantonese and conversational Mandarin, allowing her to support a broader community of pet owners.
Outside of work, Dr Jessica enjoys cycling, badminton and skiing. She also devotes her time as a volunteer ethics teacher and community services. At home, she shares her life with her children and a lively menagerie of pets, including award winning guinea pigs!
